Women's Swim Falls to Clarkson on Senior Day - Maxwell Wins Three for UC

Utica, NY (1-18-14) – The Utica College women's swim team lost to Clarkson University Saturday on Senior Day by a score of 139-97 at the Utica College Pool in the team's final home match of the season. Seniors Jordan Hess (Victor, NY/Victor Senior ) and Evelyn Kurzac (Mundelein, IL/Mundelein Cons) were honored prior to the competition for all of their hard work and efforts over the years.

Freshman standout Mikey Maxwell (Newport, NY/West Canada) guided UC with three victories on the afternoon, gathering 27 team points.  Mawell won the 100 & 200-yard freestyles with times of 26.65 and 58.91 while wrapping up the day with her third in in the 100-yard butterfly with a clock of 1:08.58. 

Kurzac and Hess combined for 20 points as the senior duo each recorded two second place finishes and one fourth place tally.  Kurzac took second in the 100 & 200-yard backstroke events and fourth in the 100-yard butterfly while Hess posted second in both the 500 & 1000-yard freestyles and fourth in the 200-yard medley.

Sophomore Jessica Schumann (Nashua, NH/Nashua South) finished the day with 12 points for Utica as she finished second in three event.  Schumann collected four points in each in the 200-yard medley as well as in the 100 & 200-yard Breaststrokes. 

UC wraps up its season on the road as it heads to Nazareth College next Saturday Jan. 25th to square off against the Golden Flyer in an E8 battle before heading to Canton, NY the following Saturday, Feb. 1st to face St. Lawrence University.  Both matches are set to start at 1 p.m.
