ONEONTA, NY – The Utica College swim & dive teams opened up their 2014-15 campaign on Saturday at the Hartwick Quad Meet. The Pioneers squared off against host Hartwick College, The College of St. Rose, and Cazenovia College.
The UC men's team came away with a convincing 158-44 victory over Cazenovia, while falling to Hartwick and St. Rose. The women's team faired equally, posting a 131-104 win over the Wildcats, while falling to both the Hawks and the Golden Knights.
On the women's side, Utica's
Alyson Baribault (Plantsville, CT/Southington) placed third in the 100 yard breast stroke with a time of 1:13.70 in her first collegiate meet. Baribault also added a fourth place finish in the 200 yard breaststroke with a time of 2:43.86.
Sophomore
Mikey Maxwell (Newport, NY/West Canada) added a fifth place finish in the 50 yard freestyle, out of 15 competitors, with a time of 26.96 and she came in third place with a score of 119.30 in the one-meter diving competition.
Phoebe King (New Bedford, MA/GNB Voc Tech) took home third place in the 100 yard freestyle with a time of 56.35.
For the men, Raphael Warnon placed sixth in the 100 yard butterfly after touching the final wall in a time of 57.71. UC's Tyler Good placed fifth in the 200 yard freestyle with a time of 1:59.65 and Omar Renta placed second in the men's one-meter board with a score of 120.05.
The Pioneers return to the pool next Saturday when they travel to Geneva, NY to square off against Hobart & William Smith College's at 1 p.m.
