UTICA, NY – The Utica College men and women swim and dive teams defeated Bard College and Wells College on Saturday. The men's team defeated Bard College 131-112 while dispatching Wells College 168-67. The women's team defeated Wells College 141-62 and topped Bard College 158-73.
The men's team was led by Raphael Warnon who placed first in the 200-yard backstroke (2:05.58), and the 200-yard I.M (2:08.90). Chris Halsey also paced the Pioneers by placing first in the 1,000-yard freestyle (11:13.06), and the 500-yard freestyle (5:27.04).
The women's team was led by
Phoebe King (New Bedford, MA/GNB Voc Tech) who placed first in the 100-yard freestyle (58.82), the 100-yard backstroke (1:08.36), and the 50-yard freestyle (26.33).
Alyson Baribault (Plantsville, CT/Southington) had two first place finishes in the 100-yard (1:17.17) and 200-yard breaststroke (2:47.64) while
Grace Gallentine (Clifton Springs, NY/Midlakes) finished first in the 200-yard freestyle (2:13.96).
The Pioneers (men's team 3-2, women's team 2-4) return to the water on Friday 13, as they travel to Cazenovia College. The meet is scheduled for a 7 p.m. start time.
