UTICA, NY- Junior
Keira Goin (Dobbs Ferry, NY/Hotchkiss School) and senior captain
Janessa Haasbeek (Grand Forks, ND/Canadian International Hockey Academy) of the Utica College women's hockey team were named to the D3hockey.com Team of the Week, Tuesday.
Â
This is Goin's third honor she has received this week after she backstopped the Pioneers to a pair of conference victories over SUNY Cortland last weekend. Goin became the first player in program history to record a shutout in three straight games and she currently has a shutout streak that has lasted 181:04. On Saturday, she made 17 saves in a 3-0 win over the Red Dragons. She followed that up with 23 saves in a 1-0 victory on Sunday to earn the sweep. On the season she has a .960 save percentage, 1.00 goals against average, and her four shutouts this year tie the College's single-season record.
Â
Haasbeek was a factor on both ends of the ice in the sweep over Cortland. On Saturday, she had two assists, including one on the game-winner just 23 seconds into the first period of Utica's 3-0 win on Saturday. She followed that up with an assist on the game's only goal in a 1-0 win over the Red Dragons on Sunday. As part of the team's top defensive pairing, she has also helped lead a Utica defense that has not allowed a goal in its last three games.
Â
The Pioneers (8-2-1, 5-2-1 ECAC West) travel to take on Morrisville State College on Wednesday night. The game is scheduled for 7 p.m.
