Women's Soccer Hopes to Carry Momentum into Hartwick Tournament

UTICA, NY- The Utica College women's soccer team looks to extend its winning streak to three games as it travels to Oneonta for the Hartwick Tournament this weekend. UC will face Johnson & Wales University on Saturday at 1 p.m. and Elms College Sunday at 1 p.m.
 
LAST TIME OUT: The Pioneers are coming off two wins in the SUNY Poly tournament last weekend... UC beat Hilbert College 2-0 on Friday and finished off the weekend sweep on Saturday with a 5-0 win over Medaille College... Goalkeepers Kimberly Beattie (Levitton, NY/Division Ave) and Jamie Enders (Cazenovia, NY/Cazenovia) each recorded a shutout on the weekend.
 
FRESHMEN FITTING IN: Three players have scored their first collegiate goals this season, including Abby Reilly (Brookfield, NY/Brookfield), Jenna Mazza (Frankfort, NY/Sauquoit Valley), and Gabrielle Esposito (Rotterdam, NY/Mohonasen)… Reilly and Mazza have combined for 14 shots and each has tallied two points… Esposito leads the team and ranks in the top ten in the Empire 8 in points (three) and assists (one).
 
OUTSCORING THE COMPETITION: The Pioneers have not given up a goal since the first game of the year, and have outscored their opponents 7-1 through their first three contests… Seven different players have scored so far and UC currently ranks second in the Empire 8 conference with 2.3 goals per game.
 
SHUTTING THE DOOR: The goalie duo of Jamie Enders (Cazenovia, NY/Cazenovia) and Kimberly Beattie (Levitton, NY/Division Ave) has been rock solid in net so far this season… They have combined for a team save percentage of .929 and have a shutout streak that is currently at 224:16. 
 
SCOUTING JOHNSON & WALES: The Wildcats have started off slow, losing 3-0 to New York University and 5-1 to Eastern Connecticut State... Deja Hursey has the lone goal on the season for the Wildcats.
 
SCOUTING ELMS: The Blazers have jumped out to a great start winning their first three games… They opened the season by defeating Rhode Island College 3-2, followed by a 2-1 win against Albertus Magnus, and most recently topping MCLA 1-0... Brie Voight and Mackenzie Larochelle each have two goals so far and combine for four out of the six goals Elms has scored this season.
 
LOOKING AHEAD: The Pioneers return home Wednesday as they take on SUNY Poly at 7 p.m.
