ALFRED, NY – The Utica College men and women swim and dive teams both fell on the road Friday at Alfred. The men's team fell to 5-4 on the year and was defeated 153-78. The women's team dropped to 2-8 as they lost 133-79.
The women's team was led by
Alyson Baribault (Plantsville, CT/Southington) who placed first in the 1,000-yard freestyle (12:07.66) and second in the 500-yard freestyle (5:54.99).
Phoebe King (New Bedford, MA/GNB Voc Tech) had a first place finish in the 200-yard freestyle (2:08.52) and a second place finish in the 100-yard freestyle (57.72) while
Jessica Schumann (Nashua, NH/Nashua South) placed first in the 100-yard breaststroke (1:18.58).
The men's team was led by senior Raphael Warnon and freshman Tim Tellekamp. Warnon placed first in the 200-yard I.M. (2:08.84) and the 100-yard backstroke (56.82). Tellekamp finished first in the 200-yard freestyle (1:51.75) and the 100-yard freestyle (51.03).
The Pioneers are back in action Saturday as they travel to take on the SUNY Cobleskill fighting tigers. The meet is scheduled to start at 1 p.m.
