UTICA, NY- The Utica College women's hockey team looks to rebound this weekend as it takes on ECAC West Conference foe, William Smith College in a home-and-home series. The teams will face off in Geneva, NY on Friday at 7 p.m. before returning to Utica for an 11 a.m. game on Sunday.
LAST TIME OUT: The Pioneers are coming off a pair of one-goal losses to Buffalo State last weekend… UC fell 2-1 on Friday and 1-0 on Saturday… Senior
Keira Goin (Dobbs Ferry, NY/Hotchkiss School) totaled 42 saves on the weekend, while junior
Meghan Power (Windsor, Ontario/Southwest Wildcats) netted Utica's only goal, with senior
Jane Pagano (Erie, PA/Tabor Academy) and sophomore
Kayla Dion (Colchester, VT/Boston Shamrocks ) picking up the assists… It marked the first time that Utica was swept in a weekend since Nov. 22 last year.

HOME SWEET HOME: Sunday will mark Utica's regular season home opener… The Pioneers were 11-5-1 on home ice last season, including a 4-2 victory over eventual National Champion, Plattsburgh State… UC outscored opponents 46-25 at home last year with four shutouts.
SCOUTING WILLIAM SMITH: The Herons are 2-2 overall and 0-2 in the conference… They are coming off a pair of losses to top ranked Plattsburgh State last weekend… Sophomores Stephanie Hampton and Jordan Roetzer lead the team with three points each… Hampton has two goals and one assist, while Roetzer leads the team with two helpers and she has also netted one goal… Junior Maggie Salmon currently holds a 2.02 goals against average and .951 save percentage.
AGAINST THE HERONS: Utica is 4-0 all-time against William Smith, including two shutout victories… Last year, the Pioneers downed the Herons 2-0 at home and 6-1 on the road…
Gabrielle Schnepp (Northville, MI/Belle Tire) and
Lauren Patterson (Burlington, Ontario/Oakville) each totaled five points (on goal, four assists) in the series, while
Keira Goin (Dobbs Ferry, NY/Hotchkiss School) stopped 44-of-45 shots in two games.
LOOKING AHEAD: The Pioneers will take on SUNY Potsdam in another ECAC West home-and-home series next weekend… The teams will face off in Utica at 2:30 p.m. on Saturday, with game two taking place in Potsdam on Sunday at 4 p.m.
SAVE THE DATE: The Pioneers recently announced the date of the 5
