UTICA, NY – The Utica College men and women swim and dive teams host Clarkson University on Saturday for the final regular season meet of the season. The meet is scheduled for 1 p.m.
Last Time Out: The men and the women swim and dive teams fell on the road to St. Lawrence last Saturday … The men's team fell 116-95 and are 6-6 on the season while the women's team dropped to 3-10 overall after their 120-61 defeat.
Standout Swimmers: The men's team was lead by Chris Halsey who placed first in the 1,000-yard freestyle (10:56.57), and the 500-yard freestyle (5:18.19). Raphael Warnon had two first place finishes as well in the 200-yard I.M. (2:06.29) and the 100-yard backstroke (58.32). Kaleb Bright also had a first place finish in the 100-yard butterfly (57.71).
The women's team was lead by
Alyson Baribault (Plantsville, CT/Southington) who placed first in the 100-yard breaststroke (1:17.36). Grace Gallintine (50-yard free, 27.06),
Phoebe King (New Bedford, MA/GNB Voc Tech) (100-yard butterfly, 1:06.89), and
Domenica Risucci (Utica, NY/Whitesboro) (100-yard breaststroke, 1:24.98) all placed second.
Scouting Clarkson University: The men's team is 3-1 in dual meets this season as they head into their final dual meet against Utica … The Golden Knights have wins over St. Lawrence University (125-115), St. Michael's College (106-93), and SUNY Potsdam (143.5-82.5) while their only loss is to Oswego State (120-111).
The women's team is 1-3 so far this season in dual meets … The meet against UC is the Golden Knights final dual meet of the season … The women's team has beaten SUNY Potsdam (141-81) while falling to St. Lawrence University (124-100), Oswego State (144.5-91.5), and St. Michael's College (142-93).
Looking Ahead: The Pioneers return to action as they head to Ithaca College for the UNYSCSA Championships/ Empire 8 Championships … The meet is a four day event starting on February 17 and finishing on February 20 … The meet times are to be announced.
