UTICA, NY – The Utica College men's lacrosse team travels to take on Oswego State in non-conference action on Wednesday. The game is scheduled for 4 p.m.
 
Last Time Out: Utica lost 18-4 in the Empire 8 Conference opener to Ithaca College on Saturday … The Bombers took a 6-1 lead at the end of the first quarter and never looked back … Ithaca shut out Utica's offense in the second and third quarters while putting up 11 goals in that time to make it 17-1 … UC would outscore the Bombers 3-1 in the final quarter … Brickman House (Oneida, WI/Pulaski) scored two of the teams four goals.
 
Field General: Senior Alex Finnegan (Bay Shore, NY/Islip) leads the team with 18 points off of six goals and a team high 12 assists … Finnegan is seventh in the conference in assists per game (1.71) … He has scored in all seven games this year and is currently on a nine game points streak dating back to last year … He has scored a season high four points in three games this year.
 
Freshman Standout: Dominic Castiglia (Liverpool, NY/Liverpool) is second on the team with 14 points off of a team high 10 goals and four assists … Castiglia has scored at least one point in six of the seven games this year … He had a career high four goals and five points against Keuka earlier in the season.
 
Helping Out: Utica has 14 players with at least one point this season … Brickman House (Oneida, WI/Pulaski) is third on the team with 11 points off of six goals and five assists … Nick Yelich (Lancaster, NY/Depew) is fourth on the team with eight points off of four goals and four assists … Matthew Miller (Geneva, NY/Geneva) is fifth on the team with seven points off of five goals and two assists while Ryan Desveaux (Bowmanville, ONT/St. Stephen Catholic) is sixth on the team with six points off of six goals.
 
Leading The Defense: Tyler Nicolaus (Rome, NY/Rome Free Academy) leads the team with 11 caused turnovers while Matt Werkmeister (Chaska, MN/Chaska) is second on the team with 10 … Nicolaus is tied for first on the team with Rusty Dessert (Islip, NY/Islip) with 15 groundballs … Nicolaus is seventh in the conference in caused turnovers per game (1.57) while Werkmeister is eighth in the conference (1.43).
 
In The Net: Senior Andrew DiOrio (Greenlawn, NY/Harborfields) and junior Parker Smith (Dexter, NY/General Brown) have played the majority of the minutes in net for the Pioneers … DiOrio has started six games, has 72 saves, a .465 save percentage, and a 15.81 goals against average … Smith has started one game while playing in four games total … He has 13 saves, a .650 save percentage, and a 5.25 goals against average … Smith is third in the conference in goals against average and third in the conference in save percentage … DiOrio is third in the conference in saves per game (12.00) ... He is the fourth goalie in school history to have over 400 career saves (433) and is only eight saves away from passing Bruce Wright 04' for third all-time.
 
Against Oswego: UC is 7-5 all-time against the Lakers including a 5-2 home record and a 2-3 away record … Last year Utica beat Oswego 12-6 at home … The two teams went to double overtime in 2008 and 2011 with Oswego winning 7-6 in 2011 and Utica winning 8-7 in 2008.
