Utica, NY – The Utica College women's swim and dive team hosted Wells College and Alfred University on Friday. The Pioneers lost to Alfred by a score of 134-84, but defeated Wells, 153-32.
The Pioneers' record now stands at 6-5 so far this season after splitting the double dual meet.
Emily Medley (Watertown, NY/Watertown),
Phoebe King (New Bedford, MA/GNB Voc Tech),
Krysta Rehrig (Pennsburg, PA/Upper Perkiomen), and
Grace Gallentine (Clifton Springs, NY/Midlakes) placed first in the 200-yard medley relay with a time of 2:01.81, to start off the meet. Gallentine was tremendous on the day earning first place individually in both the 50-yard (26.76) and the 100-yard freestyle (59.57) events.
King was also able to finish first individually in the 200-yard freestyle event with a mark of 2:08.62.
Alyson Baribault (Plantsville, CT/Southington) and
Krysta Rehrig (Pennsburg, PA/Upper Perkiomen) finished first/second in the 100-yard breaststroke earning 13 points for UC. Baribault also placed second in the 1,000-yard freestyle event with a time of 12:12.14.
Sam Brown from Alfred earned three first place finishes on the day in the 200-yard IM, 100-yard butterfly, and in the 200-yard freestyle relay. Wells College did not register any first place finishes at the meet.
The Pioneers will be back in the pool on January 21
st, as they host Nazareth College for a dual meet. The competition is scheduled to begin at 1 p.m.
