Oneonta, NY – The Utica College women's swim and dive team competed at the Hartwick Quad Meet on Saturday to open the season. The Pioneers came away with a win against Cazenovia (159-85), but losses to Hartwick (224-62) and Saint Rose (170-100).
Phoebe King (New Bedford, MA/GNB Voc Tech) had a strong outing as she placed first in the 200-yard freestyle event, with a time of 2:05.07. King also earned a second place finish with a time of 5:45.39 in the 500-yard freestyle. In the 200-yard IM, she recorded a time of 2:25.88 on her way to finishing fourth.
Freshman
Kelcey Madigan (Waverly, NY/Waverly) finished in second place in the 100-yard breaststroke event in the first meet of her collegiate career. Madigan was also on the third place 200-yard medley relay team, alongside
Emily Medley (Watertown, NY/Watertown),
Phoebe King (New Bedford, MA/GNB Voc Tech), and
Krysta Rehrig (Pennsburg, PA/Upper Perkiomen).
The Pioneers return to action on October 28th for their first home meet of the season. UC will host William Smith College, beginning at 1 p.m.
