Utica, NY – The Utica College women's swim and dive team is on the road Friday for a dual meet against Cazenovia. The meet is set to begin at 6 p.m.
Last Time Out: UC competed in a dual meet against Skidmore college in their last competition, losing by a score of 174-51.
Phoebe King (New Bedford, MA/GNB Voc Tech) placed first in the 100-yard freestyle event, with a time of 56.72. King teamed up with
Krysta Rehrig (Pennsburg, PA/Upper Perkiomen),
Kelcey Madigan (Waverly, NY/Waverly), and
Grace Gallentine (Clifton Springs, NY/Midlakes) for a second place finish in the 200-yard freestyle relay race.
Katie Skipp (Albany, NY/Albany) came in second, with a time of 28.70, in the 50-yard freestyle.
Getting Back on Track: The Pioneers have recently fell in two consecutive dual meets, against Hamilton College and Skidmore College. Prior to this minor skid, UC had earned four consecutive wins over its opponents. The team defeated Wells, Roberts Wesleyan, Cazenovia, and Herkimer County Community College. With one more meet left before the calendar turns to 2018, Utica will look to return to its winning ways in Friday's meet.
Against Cazenovia: This week's competition against the Cazenovia Wildcats is to be the third and final matchup of the season between the two programs. In the previous two meetings, UC earned victories over Caz by scores of 159-85 and 124-95.
Phoebe King (New Bedford, MA/GNB Voc Tech) has recorded four first place finishes during meets in which the team competed against the Wildcats. This upcoming meet will be Utica's last until the beginning of the new year.
Looking Ahead: The Pioneers will be back in action on January 12th, 2018 as they will compete against Alfred University, on the road. This dual meet is scheduled to commence at 1:30 p.m.
