Utica, NY – The Utica College women's swim and dive team is at home once again, to host Herkimer County Community College (HCCC) and Cazenovia. This meet is scheduled for Friday, with a 5 p.m. start at the Utica College Pool.
Last Time Out: In their last meet, the Pioneers earned wins over Roberts Wesleyan and Wells College. UC had strong performances across the board, having a first place finisher in 13 of the 14 events at the meet.

Grace Gallentine (Clifton Springs, NY/Midlakes),
Kelcey Madigan (Waverly, NY/Waverly),
Rebecca Merrill (Chelmsford, MA/Chelmsford),
Domenica Risucci (Utica, NY/Whitesboro), and
Katie Skipp (Albany, NY/Albany) all placed first individually in at least one event. Utica also had relay teams that came in first during both relay races at the meet.
King Doing Her Thing: After being selected as the Empire 8 Women's Swim & Dive Athlete of the Week,
Phoebe King (New Bedford, MA/GNB Voc Tech) had another impressive outing in the last meet. King placed first in all four events she participated in at the meet against Roberts and Wells. She won the 50-yard freestyle race with a time of 26.13, while she swam a time of 2:26.82 in the 200-yard IM to come in first. King's winning time of 1:06.74 came in the 100-yard backstroke event. As a member of the 200-yard medley relay squad, she helped UC earn first place with a time of 2:03.65. Let's see if King can continue her dominant early-season run at the team's next meet.
HCCC: Friday's meet will be the third competition of the season for the HCCC Generals. Herkimer last participated at the Cazenovia Invitational, where it defeated SUNY Delhi but lost to Cazenovia. Amanda Mascia placed first in the 50-yard freestyle event with a time of 26.61. Mascia came in second in the 200-yard freestyle and as a member of the 400-yard freestyle relay team. Daniela Barrera earned first place in the 100-yard butterfly event, while she also placed second in the 100-yard backstroke.
Cazenovia: The upcoming meet will also be Cazenovia's third time competing this season. It will be the second time this year that UC and Caz will be participating at the same meet. The two teams met initially at the Hartwick Quad Meet, where the Pioneers defeated the Wildcats by a score of 159-85. Cazenovia hosted in its last meet, earning wins over HCCC and SUNY Delhi. Amy Bubb placed first individually in the 100-yard and 200-yard backstroke events, while also helping the 400-yard medley relay team come in first.
Looking Ahead: The Pioneers return to action on November 17th, as they travel to compete against Hamilton College. The meet is scheduled to begin at 5 p.m.
