UTICA, NY- The Utica College women's hockey team hits the road this weekend for a pair of ECAC West Conference contests at Neumann University. Game time is scheduled for 7 p.m. on Friday and 2 p.m. Saturday.
LAST TIME OUT: The Pioneers are coming off a sweep of conference foe Chatham University last weekend… Senior
Gabrielle Schnepp (Northville, MI/Belle Tire) led UC with one goal and one assist each day for a total of four points on the weekend… Junior
Taylor Osowski (Highlands Ranch, CO/Colorado Selects) had two goals and one assist, while
Meghan Power (Windsor, Ontario/Southwest Wildcats) had the game-winner on Sunday and also added one assist…
Elizabeth Dohner (Highlands Ranch, CO/Colorado Selects),
Kayla Dion (Colchester, VT/Boston Shamrocks ),
Veronique Lortie (Chambly, Quebec/Berkshire School), and
Jane Pagano (Erie, PA/Tabor Academy) each had two assists on the weekend… Senior
Keira Goin (Dobbs Ferry, NY/Hotchkiss School) had 37 saves in the series.
LEADING THE WAY: Senior
Gabrielle Schnepp (Northville, MI/Belle Tire) has a team-high 17 assists and 21 points…Schnepp was selected as the Utica College Female Athlete of the Week on Monday after her four-point performance against Chatham… She has seven points (two goals, five assists) in her last four games… She currently ranks fifth all-time with 108 career points, just three behind 2016 graduate and All-American,
Morgan Reed (Fort Myers, FL/Cushing Academy)… Schnepp also needs just one more assists to tie 2014 graduate, Megan Myers, for third on the College's career assists list… Utica is 10-2-1 this year when Schnepp records at least one point.
HELPING OUT: Junior
Meghan Power (Windsor, Ontario/Southwest Wildcats) ranks second on the squad in both assists (12) and points (15)… Her 15 points this year match her career-high, which she accomplished her freshman season at Neumann University… Senior
Emily Coope (Phoenix, AZ/Colorado Tigers) is tied for third on the team with a career-high 14 points (seven goals, seven assists)… She needs just one goal to match her career-best mark of eight, which she accomplished last year... Coope is currently tied with
Taylor Osowski (Highlands Ranch, CO/Colorado Selects) for the team lead with seven goals… Sophomore
Elizabeth Dohner (Highlands Ranch, CO/Colorado Selects) has had a breakout season as she is tied with Coope for third on the team with 14 points (six goals, eight assists)… She has scored three goals and added two assists in the last four games.
BIG D: Senior
Jane Pagano (Erie, PA/Tabor Academy) and sophomore
Kayla Dion (Colchester, VT/Boston Shamrocks ) lead the Pioneer defense that has allowed just 1.81 goals per game in ECAC West matchups… Pagano is tied for third on the team with 14 points, while Dion is right behind her with a career-best 13 points… Senior
Keira Goin (Dobbs Ferry, NY/Hotchkiss School) has racked up a team-leading 1.53 goals against average and a .938 save percentage.
CONFERENCE STANDINGS: The Pioneers are currently sixth in the ECAC West Conference standings with five games left to play… Four of Utica's five games remaining are against teams below UC in the standings… Seven points is all that separates third and sixth place… The top six teams make the ECAC West Tournament.
SCOUTING NEUMANN: The Knights are 6-12-3 overall and 2-9-3 in the conference… They are coming off a pair of losses to Buffalo State last weekend…Neumann is led by the combination of Bek Lucas and Grace Klienback…The pair has combined for 58 points on the season (28 goals, 30 assists)…Lucas is fourth in the conference in both goals per game and assists per game in ECAC West matchups…Goalie Julia Fair owns a .911 save percentage and 3.45 goals against average.
AGAINST THE KNIGHTS: Last season UC defeated Neumann in both matchups at the Utica Auditorium, winning 5-1 and 4-1…
