Alfred, NY – The Utica College women's swim and dive team traveled to compete against Alfred University on Friday. The Pioneers fell to the Saxons, with the final score reading 155-62.
Phoebe King (New Bedford, MA/GNB Voc Tech) won the 200-yard freestyle event, finishing with a time of 2:04.21. Teammate
Daniela Hannah (Dalton, GA/Northwest Whitfield) was not far behind King, placing third. Phoebe also earned second place in the 100-yard backstroke, swimming a time of 1:07.65.
Grace Gallentine (Clifton Springs, NY/Midlakes) recorded a time of 26.74 in the 50-yard freestyle race, coming in first place. Gallentine then finished third, with a time of 6:26.18, in the 500-yard freestyle.
Kelcey Madigan (Waverly, NY/Waverly) was able to secure second place in the 100-yard breaststroke. Madigan's time of 1:17.04 just barely beat, Alfred swimmer, Liv Piazza's time of 1:17.12.
Katie Skipp (Albany, NY/Albany) and
Rebecca Merrill (Chelmsford, MA/Chelmsford) earned third and fourth place, respectively, in the 100-yard butterfly event. Skipp swam a time of 1:12.57, while Merrill clocked in at 1:13.26.
The Pioneers will be back in the pool on Saturday, as they travel to compete in the ECC Long Course Invite. The meet is set to begin at 1 p.m.
