Rochester, NY – The Utica College women's swim and dive team lost a dual meet against Nazareth College on Saturday, 119-87. The Pioneers received a strong performance from
Phoebe King (New Bedford, MA/GNB Voc Tech), as she broke two program records, for events in a 25-Meter Pool.
Phoebe King (New Bedford, MA/GNB Voc Tech)'s second place time of 28.04 set a school-record time for the 50-meter freestyle event, in a 25-meter pool. She then went on to record a time of 1:01.37, breaking the program record in the 100-meter freestyle. King also finished second in the 200-meter freestyle race, with a time of 2:16.06.
Grace Gallentine (Clifton Springs, NY/Midlakes) came in second during the 100-meter freestyle event, swimming a time of 1:07.10. In the 200-meter backstroke event,
Rebecca Merrill (Chelmsford, MA/Chelmsford),
Domenica Risucci (Utica, NY/Whitesboro), and
Daniela Hannah (Dalton, GA/Northwest Whitfield) placed first/second/third.
Kelcey Madigan (Waverly, NY/Waverly),
Ashley Flint (Whitesboro, NY/Whitesboro), and
Meagan Stanton (Chemung, NY/Waverly) also went first/second/third in the 200-meter breaststroke. The trio of
Katie Skipp (Albany, NY/Albany),
Emily Czerwonka (Souderton, PA/Souderton Area), and
Domenica Risucci (Utica, NY/Whitesboro) once again finished first/second/third for UC, in the 100-meter butterfly.
The 400-meter freestyle relay team of
Phoebe King (New Bedford, MA/GNB Voc Tech),
Krysta Rehrig (Pennsburg, PA/Upper Perkiomen),
Daniela Hannah (Dalton, GA/Northwest Whitfield), and
Grace Gallentine (Clifton Springs, NY/Midlakes) earned first place with a time of 4:32.88.
The Pioneers are back in action next Saturday, as the team heads to St. Lawrence University. The dual meet is set to begin at 1 p.m.
