UTICA,NY- The Utica College women's hockey team dropped its exhibition home opener as it fell to the visiting London Devilettes junior team 6-2 Sunday afternoon at the Adirondack Bank Center at the Utica Memorial Auditorium.

The Devilettes opened the scoring at 5:46 as Jaymee Nolan put in a feed from Emma Min and Kyra Minoletti to take a 1-0 lead. Utica evened the score just six minutes later as
Kayla Dion (Colchester, VT/Boston Shamrocks) ripped a shot from the point that found its way through traffic in front and ended up in the back of the net.Â
Elizabeth Dohner (Highlands Ranch, CO/Colorado Selects) and
Georgiana Santullo (Woburn, MA/Boston Shamrocks/Woburn High School) assisted on the play.

London regained the lead at 15:37 when Hannah Tait beat Utica goalie
Gabrielle Igo (Phoenix, AZ/Northern Cyclones) to put the visitors back on top 2-1. Victoria Quance and Nicole Gosling were credited with assists on the Devilettes second tally.

Utica came out of the locker room strong in the second period and the Pioneers were quickly rewarded as Dohner netted one of her own just 25 seconds into the second stanza. Santullo and
Lexi Stanisewski (Lawrence, MA/Boston Shamrocks) assisted on the equalizer.Â

London used a pair of power play goals to pull away in the second period and the Devilettes tacked on two more scores in the third to secure the victory.

Igo and freshman
Savannah Gutierrez (Huntington Beach, CA/Anaheim Lady Ducks) combined for 31 saves in net for Utica, while London's Rachael Bentley and Jamie Johnson shared goaltending duties and totaled 21 saves in the win.

The Pioneers will open up the regular season on Saturday as they travel to Becker College. Game time is scheduled for 7 p.m. Utica will return home on Friday, Nov. 9 for their regular season home opener against UCHC foe, Chatham University.
