UTICA, NY – The Utica College men and women's swim and dive team are on the road for dual meets against Hamilton on Friday and Skidmore on Saturday. The Hamilton meet is scheduled to begin at 5:30 p.m., while the competition at Skidmore begins at 1 p.m.
Women's Sweep: The women's team also cleaned up at the Quad Meet, defeating HCCC (126-34), Cazenovia (121-54) and Roberts Wesleyan (101-94). Junior
Daniela Hannah (Dalton, GA/Northwest Whitfield) won the 200-yard and 500-yard freestyle events individually. She also teamed up with senior
Ashley Flint (Whitesboro, NY/Whitesboro) and freshman
Jamie Cassetta (Franklin Square, NY/Carey) to win the 400-yard medley relay. Junior
Rebecca Merrill (Chelmsford, MA/Chelmsford) won first place in the 200-yard IM and butterfly events and senior
Lara McNamara (Yonkers, NY/Maria Regina) finished second place in the 200-yard and 100-yard freestyle events.
Men's Sweep: The men's team is coming off a clean sweep of the competition at the Utica College Quad Meet last Friday. UC defeated all three teams, getting wins over HCCC (131-13), Cazenovia (136-16) and Robert Wesleyan (131-33). Senior TJ Tellekamp finished first in the 50-yard and 100-yard freestyle races, along with earning a win as part of the 200-yard freestyle relay team. Freshman Coleman Barry came in first place in the 200-yard butterfly and the 1000-yard freestyle events. Daniel Angotti won the 200-yard backstroke event, and sophomore Michael Leyburn won the 200-yard IM.
Scouting Hamilton: The Continentals are starting their season this Friday with the dual beet against UC as then their season opener. Last year when these two teams met, the Hamilton men's team won 142-72 and the women's team won 161-64 against UC.
Scouting Skidmore: The men's team at Skidmore has gone 2-2 in dual meets so far this season, losing its last two meets in a row. The lady Thoroughbreds are 1-3 heading into the weekend in head to head matchups in the pool. In their sole win in dual meet competition, Skidmore defeated SUNY Potsdam 156-138. Last year the Pioneers hosted Skidmore, with the women losing 174-51 and the men losing 135-81.
Looking Ahead: The Pioneers are back after Thanksgiving Break for a road trip to Cazenovia College on November 30
th. This dual meet is scheduled to begin at 5 p.m.
