CAZENOVIA, NY- The Utica College swim and dive teams picked up a pair of big wins Friday night as the women downed host Cazenovia College 142-90 and the men cruised to a 142-36 victory over the Wildcats.

Junior
Rebecca Merrill (Chelmsford, MA/Chelmsford) led the way for the women as she totaled three first place finishes and then helped the 200-yard medley relay team to a second place finish. Merrill took home top honors in the 200-yard butterfly (2:29.71), the 200-yard backstroke (2:35.62), and the 100-yard butterfly with a time of 1:12.94. Merrill then teamed up with
Kelly Waryncia (Clifton Park, NY/Shenendehowa),
Ashley Flint (Whitesboro, NY/Whitesboro), and
Daniela Hannah (Dalton, GA/Northwest Whitfield) for the second place finish in the 200-yard medley relay.

Hannah also added a top finish of her own in the mixed 400-yard IM (5:26.84) and she came in second in the 500-yard freestyle with a time of 6:01.06. Flint, meanwhile came in second in both the 100 and 200-yard breast stroke with times of 1:19.08 and 2:51.85, respectively. She also teamed up with
Lara McNamara (Yonkers, NY/Maria Regina),
Michalyn Winkler (Barto, PA/Upper Perkiomen), and
Emily Czerwonka (Souderton, PA/Souderton Area) for a first place finish in the 200-yard freestyle relay.

The men were led by Daniel Angotti, who combined for three first place finishes and one second place finish. Angotti was on the 200-yard medley relay team and the 200-yard freestyle relay teams that took home top marks. He also placed first in the 100-yard backstroke with a time of 1:05.32 and second in the 200-yard backstroke (2:19.37) in his solo competitions.

TJ Tellekamp picked up individual victories in the 100-yard free (48.74) and the 200 free (1:50.55) and then was part of the 200-yard medley relay that came in second place for the Pioneers. Barry Coleman picked up nine team points for UC as he won the 200-yard backstroke with a time of 2:18.36, and Jackson Sorbello, Michael Leyburn, and Garrett Bortiatynski had a clean sweep in the 100-yard butterfly to earn 16 team points.Â

The Pioneers will return to action after the winter break as they host Nazareth College.Â
