Utica, NY – The Utica College women's swim and dive team will welcome HCCC, Cazenovia, and Roberts Wesleyan on Friday for the Utica College Quad Meet. The events are scheduled to begin at 6 p.m. (See below for full event listings)
Last Time Out: UC emerged victorious over Wells College, 72-23, in a dual meet on the road last weekend.
Daniela Hannah (Dalton, GA/Northwest Whitfield) completed the day with three first place finishes, which included wins in the 100-yard backstroke, 200-yard freestyle, and in the 200-yard medley relay. Teammate
Michalyn Winkler (Barto, PA/Upper Perkiomen) also earned a top place finish in three separate events, placing first in the 1,000-yard and 500-yard freestyle races and in the 200-yard freestyle relay.
Future Home Meets: This Friday's Quad Meet will be the first home competition for the Pioneers this season. The team will host three more meets before the year ends. The home meets are on January 11
th against Alfred, January 19
th against Nazareth, and January 26
th against St. Lawrence.
Scouting HCCC: The Herkimer Generals opened up their season on November 3
rd at the Cazenovia Invitational. HCCC placed third out of four competing teams, with a team score of 106. Amanda Mascia took home first place in the 50, 100, and 200-yard freestyle events. Mascia was the only member of the women's team to secure a top place finish at the meet.
Scouting Cazenvoia: The Wildcats hosted the Cazenovia Invitational their last time in the pool for a competition, as they placed first out of four teams at the meet. Jenni Uplinger placed first in the 500 and 1,000-yard freestyle along with the 200-yard butterfly individually. Amy Bubb earned first in the 100-yard butterfly, while teammate Katherine Meehan won the 200-yard IM and the 100-yard breaststroke.
Scouting Roberts Wesleyan: Roberts hosted Erie Community College on November 2
nd for its first dual meet of the year. The Red Hawks got the 173-66 win at their home pool to start the season. Abbey Greene and Abi Bailey both had multiple wins at the meet to lead the way. Greene secured wins in the 100-yard butterfly along with the 500 and 1,000-yard freestyle events. Bailey placed first in the 50-yard freestyle and the 100-yard backstroke races.
Looking Ahead: UC is back in the pool next week, as it heads to Hamilton College on Friday for a dual meet. Competition for the day is set to start at 5:30 p.m.
