Utica, NY – The Utica College women's swim and dive team hosted Clarkson University on Saturday. It was Senior Day for the Pioneers, as they came away with the 138-109 victory.
Phoebe King (New Bedford, MA/GNB Voc Tech) celebrated her senior day with a first-place finish in the 200-yard women's freestyle event, swimming a UC pool record time of 2:00.61. She also came in first during the 100-yard freestyle with a time of 55.85. King went for a third event win, individually, when she swam a time of 2:23.55 in the 200-yard IM.
King was joined by
Kelcey Madigan (Waverly, NY/Waverly), along with fellow seniors
Katie Skipp (Albany, NY/Albany) and
Grace Gallentine (Clifton Springs, NY/Midlakes) to come in first place in the 200-yard medley relay. Gallentine earned first in the 50-yard freestyle and the 500-yard freestyle with times of 26.26 and 6:05.22 respectively.
Kelcey Madigan (Waverly, NY/Waverly) took home first place in the 100-yard and 200-yard breaststroke events, scoring 18 team points for UC. Senior
Krysta Rehrig (Pennsburg, PA/Upper Perkiomen) placed second in the 100-yard breaststroke with a time of 1:18.30. Rehrig also came in third place in the 200-yard breaststroke race.
Meagan Stanton (Chemung, NY/Waverly) swam a time of 28.92 on her way to second place in the 50-yard freestyle. She also placed third in the 200-yard backstroke, while classmate
Domenica Risucci (Utica, NY/Whitesboro) finished second in the race.
The Pioneers now prepare for the Empire 8 Championships on February 20th. The team will travel out to Webster, NY for the competition.
