Last Time Out: The Pioneers put together their best effort in a non-conference battle against Oswego State on Saturday but fell just short, losing 2-1. Sophomore
Caley Susitti (Hartland, WI/Milwaukee Jr. Admirals) owned the squad's only tally, helped along by
Lexi Stanisewski (Lawrence, MA/Boston Shamrocks) and Hirschy.
Savannah Gutierrez (Huntington Beach, CA/Anaheim Lady Ducks) made her fifth appearance of the season in goal, stopping 25 Laker shots.
Pioneers Putting Up Numbers: Sophomore
Georgiana Santullo (Woburn, MA/Boston Shamrocks/Woburn High School) leads her team offensively, with team-bests in both goals and points with marks of 7 and 14, respectively. Rookie
Erica Sloan (Potsdam, NY/St. Lawrence Steel) trails closely behind with 13 points on six goals and a second-best seven assists.
Standing in the Conference: The Pioneers are currently fourth in UCHC North standings with a record of 7-4-1 in the league play, 7-13-1 overall. Including this weekend just four conference games remain before playoffs commence. UC needs to earn just one point this weekend to punch its ticket to postseason play, for the 18th time in the program's 19-year history.
Scouting King's: The Monarchs round out the UCHC North field with a 1-13 in-conference record, 2-18-1 overall. King's fell to SUNY Cortland 3-0 earlier this week, bringing an end to a five-game home stand. Despite being dealt a loss, netminder Kiva Sierra Stoltz made an impressive 55 saves.
Meetings with the Monarchs: UC took down King's 11-2 on the road earlier this season, to extend its all-time series lead to 5-0. Freshman
Maggie Rylott (Cobourg, Ontario/West Northumberland) notched her first-career hat trick in the win. Gutierrez made 21 saves en route to her first win of the season.
Scouting Wilkes: The Colonels are currently fifth in the UCHC with a record of 3-8-1 and 4-13-1 overall. They were dealt a 9-2 loss at home by William Smith last weekend. Ashley Murry and Julie Patterson owned their squad's goals. In net, Allyson Joy made 51 saves.
Meetings with the Colonels: Utica is perfect against Wilkes, winning all four meetings between the pair. UC is currently averaging 4.33 goals per game in contests against Wilkes. Most recently, the Pioneers took down the Colonels 2-1 on the road, secured by a
Carolyn Whitney (Raleigh, NC/Milbrook School) tally late in the third period.
Up Next: Utica hits the road next weekend for two more UCHC games, first stopping at William Smith on Saturday for a 4 p.m. puck drop. UC will then take on Elmira College at 3 p.m. on Sunday.
