UTICA, NY - The Utica College men's and women's swim and dive team kick off the 2021-22 season at 9 a.m. on Saturday at the Hartwick College Quad Meet. The teams will be competing against Hartwick College, St. Rose and SUNY Cobleskill.

Last Time Out: Last time the team's competed in a full season was in 2019-20. The women's team finished fourth overall with 382 points at the Empire 8 Swimming and Diving Championships as did the men's team, totaling 290 points at the event. The women's team entered the championships with a 6-9 overall record that season while the men entered the field 4-8 overall.
Look Who's Back: Kate Anderson (Lynbrook, NY/Lynbrook),
Katie Delgado (Greene, NY/Broome CCC),
Sara Kuiken (Valley Falls, NY/Tamarack),
Emma Ormsby (Potsdam, NY/Potsdam),
Kira Seaman (Fort Edward, NY/Hudson Falls),
Kim Serio (Lakeville, NY/Livonia),
Bailey Simmons (Vernon Center, NY/Vernon-Verona-Sherrill ) and
Kelly Waryncia (Clifton Park, NY/Shenendehowa) each return for another season in the water at UC for the women's team. The men's team will welcome back Coleman Barry, Michael Colocho, Nick Massa and Jackson Sorbello. The women's team is expected to return each of its nine starters without any losses while the men's team is expected to return eight while losing two, including a key loss in Mike Leyburn.
Welcome to the Club: Abby Whitt (Central Point, OR/South Medford ),
Amelia Laible (Oakdale, NY/Connetquot),
Hannah Tharrett (Potsdam, NY/Potsdam ),
Nicole Zalewski (Portland, CT/Vinal Tech ),
Terry Kirabo Nagginda (Cohoes, NY/Shaker ) and
Madison West (Malone, NY/Franklin Academy ) will each join the women's team for year number one at UC. Chase Dobbertin and Liam Horodnik will be welcomed onto the men's team for their first seasons as Pioneers as well.
Who to Look For: On the men's side, seniors Jackson Sorbello and Coleman Barry will be counted on to lead the Pioneers in 2021-22. Sorbello is a standout in the freestyle and butterfly, while Barry specializes in the distance events. For the women's team, seniors

Kate Anderson (Lynbrook, NY/Lynbrook) (freestyle and backstroke) will be counted on to lead the Pioneers in and out of the pool in 2021-22.
Season Outlook: The Pioneers will have a total of nine meets this season prior to the Empire 8 Swimming and Diving Championships which takes place from February 16-19, 2022. The season comprises six away meets and three home meets which will take place on November 5, January 5 and January 21.
A Look Ahead: UC will travel to William Smith College for a 1 p.m. tri-meet on October 30 against William Smith and Robert Wesleyan College.
