ALFRED, NY - The Utica College swim & dive teams both fell on the road to Alfred University on Friday afternoon. The women were bested by the Saxons 118-59 while the men were defeated 116-40.
For the women, Katie Delgado (Greene, NY/Broome CCC) and Amelia Liable finished second and third in the 50-yard freestyle. Delgado finished with a time of 27.28 while teammate Laible was not far behind, touching the wall in 28.72. In the 100-yard freestyle, Kaitlyn Renwick (Boonville, NY) (1:06.94), Kim Serio (Lakeville, NY/Livonia) (1:11.85) and Alyssa Morley (Oswego, NY/Oswego) (1:20.21) finished second through fourth.
On the men's side, Barry Coleman, Jackson Sorbello, Nick Massa and Michael Colocho won the 200-yard free relay in 1:46.97. Coleman took home a win in the 500-yard freestyle, touching the wall with a finals time of 5:44.65. Sorbello finished second in the 50-yard freestyle with a time of 23.80, just .20 seconds off of the lead. Massa wound up third out of five in the 200-yard IM as he finished in 2:30.75. Colocho and Massa also finished second and third in the 100-yard breaststroke, Massa in 1:20.96 and Colocho in 1:21.61.
Both teams are back in action tomorrow at 1 p.m. against Alfred State and Nazareth.
