Swim & Dive to Host Herkimer CC on Friday

UTICA, NY - The Utica College men's and women's swim & dive teams will host Herkimer County Community College at 6 p.m. on Saturday. 
 
Last Time Out: Both teams fell to Nazareth and Alfred State at home on January 15. The women were defeated 199-32 by Nazareth and 115-73 by Alfred St. while the men were bested 172-19 by Nazareth and 185-24 by Alfred St. Madison West (Malone, NY/Franklin Academy ) and Katie Delgado (Greene, NY/Broome CCC) of the women's team finished third and fourth in the 50-yard freestyle with West clocking in at 26.29 and West at 26.91. West also finished fourth in the 100-yard freestyle with a time of 59.98, just .04 seconds behind third. For the men, Jackson Sorbello put together a pair of top-5 finishes. He finished fifth in the 50-yard freestyle with a time of 23.64 and fourth in the 100-yard free finishing in 52.04 seconds. 
 
Sorbello Still Rocking: Jackson Sorbello has been surgical over his last three outings. The senior collected wins in the 50-yard and 100-yard butterfly against Roberts Wesleyan and Wells College on November 20 before finishing second in the 50-yard freestyle at Alfred University on Friday with a time of 23.80, just .20 seconds off of the lead.
 
Cole Train: Coleman Barry has had a similar last few outings to those of his teammate, Sorbello. Barry took the 200-yard freestyle in 2:02.17 and the 100-yard backstroke in 1:03.83 at Roberts Wesleyan back in November and also picked up a win in the 500-yard free at Alfred on Friday. 
 
Delgado Heating Up: Katie Delgado (Greene, NY/Broome CCC) has also gone on to put together some solid performances over her last two meets. The senior checked in second in the 50-yard freestyle at Alfred last week on top of her fourth place finish in the same event on Saturday. She, along with teammates Amelia Laible (Oakdale, NY/Connetquot), Kira Seaman (Fort Edward, NY/Hudson Falls) and Kelly Waryncia (Clifton Park, NY/Shenendehowa), also won the 200-yard medley relay at Roberts Wesleyan three meets ago. 
 
Immediate Impact: In her first meet with Utica against Alfred University, transfer student Kaitlyn Renwick (Boonville, NY) showed up. She clocked in second in the 100-yard freestyle with a time of 1:06.94. In that same meet she also finished third in the 200-yard free in 2:30.38. 
 
About Herk: In the Generals' last meet, Matt Travis broke the school record in the 1,000-yard freestyle with a time of 11:55.83. Out of six teams at that event, Bobby Dunlap and Kla Awar of Herkimer impressed along with the rest of the team. Dunlap placed third in the 100-yard Backstroke while Awar made an impressive debut in the 50 and 100 Free. Jasmine Martin swam strong in the 100 and 50 Free as well as trying the 100 Breast for the first time in her collegiate career.
