Swim & Dive Set to Compete at Hartwick Quint Meet

UTICA, NY - The Utica University men's and women's swim & dive teams will travel to Oneonta, NY on Saturday to face SUNY Cobleskill, Hartwick College, The College of Saint Rose, and Cazenovia College at Hartwick College. Diving will begin at 9 a.m. followed by swimming at 1 p.m. 
 
Last Time Out: Utica's mens & womens swim & dive team both finished in 6th place in their recent meet at Hartwick College. The women's team totaled 18 points while the men's team totaled eight. 
 
Showing Out: For the men's team, Jackson Sorbello finished third amongst 43 other swimmers in the mixed 200 yard medley relay with a time of 23.43. Aaron Batario also swam the fastest time for the Pioneers in the 400 yard medley relay with a time of 26.12.
 
Relay Time: For the women's team, Paige Levine (Holtsville, NY/Sachem East ) swam one of the faster single times in the 3x100 yard backstroke relay. She finished with a time of 32.05 in one out of her two rounds. Ainsley Vyse (Glastobury, CT/Hartford Magnet Trinity College Academy ) also swam the fastest time amongst Utica swimmers in the 850 yard freestyle relay with a time of 29.58.
 
Scouting the Competition: Sunday will be the start of the season for Cobleskill and Cazenovia and both look to start strong. The Cobleskill Fighting Tigers men's swim and dive team were 5-1 last season whereas the women were 3-4. The Cazenovia Wildcats women had a solid season in which the team went 6-5, yet the men had a shortened season of just two meets in which both were dropped. The Saint Rose men participated in the Hartwick relays last weekend and placed fifth out of the seven teams while the women placed fourth. The host Harwick did well in its season opening meet last weekend. The women placed fifth with 42 points and the men did fantastic and placed second with 110 points. 

Up Next: The Pioneers will host its first home meet of the season against William Smith College on Friday, October 28 at 6 p.m. at the Utica Pool.
