Swim & Dive Sweep Cazenovia and Delhi

CAZENOVIA, NY - The Utica University swim & dive teams both beat SUNY Delhi and Cazenovia College on Friday night. The women beat Delhi 176-34 and Cazenovia 169-58. The men topped Delhi 109-51 and Cazenovia 120-3.
 
Bailey Simmons (Vernon Center, NY/Vernon-Verona-Sherrill) continues her dominant season as she captured a trifecta of wins. Her first win came in the women's 200 yard freestyle. Simmons then went on to win the women's 50 yard freestyle with an impressive time of 26.81. Simmons completed the hat trick of wins by claiming first place in the women's 100 yard backstroke clocking in at 1:10.83. Ainsley Vyse (Glastobury, CT/Hartford Magnet Trinity College Academy) swam well today and won the women's 50 yard breaststroke with a time of 37.57. She continued her fantastic swimming as she won the women's 100 yard breaststroke clocking in at 1:25.07 with teammate Kimmy Serio coming in just behind in second place. Kira Seaman (Fort Edward, NY/Hudson Falls) and Paige Levine (Holtsville, NY/Sachem East) came top two in the women's 100 yard butterfly. Then, Paige Levine (Holtsville, NY/Sachem East) and Sara Kuiken (Valley Falls, NY/Tamarac) were the top two finishers in the women's 500 yard freestyle with times of 5:56.19 and 6:30.10. Levine also won the women's 100 yard medley with a time of 1:12.17. The women's team also won the 200 yard freestyle relay clocking in at 1:55.13 and beating second place by nearly ten seconds. The women's team looked unstoppable today and look to keep their excellence going.
 
Jackson Sorbello continues his torrid start to the season as he won the men's 50 yard freestyle with an impressive time of 23.55 which was nearly two seconds faster than second place teammate Ronald Batario. Sorbello also won the men's 50 yard butterfly and was followed by teammates Nick Massa and Phillip Ross to bring the Pioneers plenty of points from the event. The men's team won the 200 yard medley relay in convincing fashion as the team clocked in at 1:57.81 which was 10 seconds better than second place Delhi. Batario won the men's 100 yard freestyle clocking in at 58.15. The men's team swam the best it has all season and looks to keep the good times rolling.
 
The teams will compete against Wells College and Robert Wesleyan University in Rochester, NY on November 19 at 1 p.m.
