UTICA, NY - Nate Palmer (Verona, NY/Vernon Verona Sherrill) and Jimmie Warren (Suffern, NY/Suffern) of the Utica University football team have each been selected to D3football.com All-Region 2 Teams, as announced by D3football.com on Wednesday. Palmer earned First Team honors at wide receiver while Warren was selected to the Second Team as a defensive end. 
 
This is the 18th annual season in which D3football.com All-Region Teams have been selected. Players were nominated for these awards by the Sports Information Directors at the various schools, and schools and conferences were contacted multiple times as the season wound down to remind them to make their players eligible. In total, 1,096 players were nominated.
 
All-Region teams are selected in balloting by sports information directors in each region and D3football.com staff. All players nominated for All-Region are eligible to be considered for the D3football.com All-America Team.
 
Previously, each was named to their respective Empire 8 Player of the Year positions: Palmer as Offensive Player of the Year and Warren as Co-Defensive Player of the Year. 
 
This season, Palmer recorded 75 catches, 1291 receiving yards, and 18 receiving touchdowns while his receiving yards and touchdown receptions were the most in a single season in Pioneer history. Palmer's 120 points recorded this season also rank first all-time in a single season in program history. His 75 receptions rank third all-time in a single-season and he finished fifth all-time for total touchdowns in a season with 20.
 
He was also selected to participate in the NFL Scouted FCS Bowl in Daytona Beach, Florida on Sunday which gives the top FCS/DII/DIII players a direct path to play in a top FBS game. Palmer is also one of 15 semifinalists for the Gagliardi Trophy which is awarded to the best player in NCAA Division III. The four finalists will be announced tomorrow, December 7, at 4 p.m. and will be streamed live on D3football.com's Facebook page. 
 
Warren finished his 2022 season as the Empire 8 leader with 11 sacks, tied for the E8 lead with 17.5 tackles for loss and ranked fourth in the league with 98 total tackles. His 11 sacks this season finished third all-time in a single-season in program history while his tackles for loss ranked fourth in a single-season in program history. The 75 yards opponents lost on his tackles for loss, however, were the most in a single season in program history.
