UTICA, NY - Jada Anthony (West Nyack, NY/Clarkstown South) and Shane Murphy (Oriskany, NY/Danbury Hat Tricks (NAHL)) have been selected as the Pioneer Athletes of the Week for the week of November 4th. 

For Anthony, this is her second award of the 2024 season. Anthony recorded 13 kills in the last two wins for the Pioneers, hitting .538 against Keuka and .214 against Elmira. Anthony shined at the net, recording 11 total blocks in the last two games, two solo and four assists against Keuka followed by one solo and four assists against Elmira.

Anthony and the Volleyball squad take the court tonight in Delhi at 7:00 PM and will participate in a tri-match on Saturday at Vassar to complete their 2024 campaign. 

Murphy got the No. 4 ranked Pioneers off to an emphatic start in their season-opener against powerhouse No. 3 Adrian College. Murphy collected two goals in the outing, with both of his scores coming in an insane third period that began with the Pioneers facing a 2-1 deficit. Murphy scored his first goal on a penalty kill, tying the game at two goals apiece after the shorthanded score. The hometown hero's second goal came with just over 30 seconds remaining in the matchup, giving the Pioneers a 3-2 lead and sending the team to a huge season-opening victory against one of the best teams in all of Division III. Murphy also ended the weekend with a +1 plus/minus.

Murphy's Men's Hockey team will begin their UCHC schedule this weekend, traveling to Nazareth on Friday before welcoming the Golden Flyers to the Adriondack Bank Center on Saturday. Both games will begin at 7:00 PM.
