MINNEAPOLIS, MN - Pioneer Defensive Tackle
John Stroughn (Baldwin, NY/Holy Trinity) has been named to the D3football.com Team of the Week for the week of September 22nd.
This is extremely good company for the Utica defensive veteran as the D3football.com Team of the Week pool encompasses different players across all teams and leagues in NCAA Division III Football.
Stroughn was a major thorn in the side, and front, of the Lycoming offensive line during Utica's 42-17 win over Lycoming this past Saturday. He recorded two tackles for loss and a sack as part of his four-tackle afternoon. Stroughn also altered the Warriors' offensive plans all day, recording four quarterback hurries. The graduate student from Baldwin, NY appeared in the Warrior backfield quite regularly during the matchup as he inched closer to becoming the Pioneers' all-time career sacks leader, now being 4 sacks away from the title (Stroughn has 26, record is 29.5).
Stroughn's award win is the first time this season that a Pioneer player has featured on D3football.com's Team of the Week. Stroughn is the fourth different Pioneer to receive an honor of any kind in 2024.
Through only three weeks, Pioneer football has seen four different players receive all-conference or D3football.com honors. Below is the list of accolades that Utica has racked up in just a few weeks of play.

Pioneer football will be on a bye this weekend, but will return to action the following Saturday when they head to Oneonta to open up Empire 8 play against Hartwick
