ROCHESTER, NY - Jordan Hancock (Albuquerque, NM/Belle Tire) earned UCHC Player of the Week and Angela Hawthorne (Santa Clara, CA/Meijer) received her third UCHC Goalie of the Week honors, as announced by the league on Monday.
Freshman Jordan Hancock (Albuquerque, NM/Belle Tire) was the Pioneers most powerful offensive weapon during an awesome opening to 2025 which saw them defeat Williams and Canton in a road sweep to start the new calendar year. Hancock scored two and charged the Pioneer attack in a 6-goal outing on the road against a Williams team receiving votes in both the USCHO and DIII Hockey News poll. The rookie sensation also put one through in the Pioneers 2-1 victory on the road at SUNY Canton. The New Mexico native also got it done in efficient fashion, putting away three of her four attempts for a 75% shot percentage, a big breakout week for the Pioneers' young star.
Angela Hawthorne (Santa Clara, CA/Meijer) was steady in goal for a Pioneer team that secured two big non-conference road wins to start the new year. Hawthorne went 2-0 during the week, allowing four goals but putting up an extremely solid 93.8% save percentage during the Pioneers' pair of road contests. two of her four blemishes came against an opposing power play, with the Graduate goalkeeping guru only allowing teams to go 2-for-9 on the advantage against her, a 22% conversion rate.
