At the Empire 8 Conference Championship, Bennett Melita (Johnstown, NY/Fonda-Fultonville) finished 1st overall with his 25:34.2 finish time. This pace was 24.2 seconds faster than the second overall runner. Melita has now placed 1st overall in three events this season as he eyes an NCAA postseason push.

Marlo Townsend (Rome, NY/Rome Free Academy) finished in fifth place at the Empire 8 Championships, hosted by St. John Fisher. The sophomore crossed the line with a time of 22:55.7, posting the fifth best time in school history.

Both Pioneer Cross Country teams now head up to Rochester, NY on Saturday November 15th to compete in the NCAA Niagara Regional starting at 10am.
