UTICA, NY - The Utica University women's indoor track and field team hosted the Utica Holiday Classic on Saturday afternoon.
Laura Suppa (Canastota, NY/Canastota) led the way for the Pioneers in the 60m hurdles, making her Pioneer debut in style. Suppa set the school, facility, and Empire 8 record in the event with her time of 8.69 in the final. In the prelims, Suppa ran a 8.75, which also would have broken the school record.
In the mile,
Catherine Manna (Whitesboro, NY/Whitesboro) finished in third place with a time of 5:32.29.
In the 600m,
Arianna McClendon (Rome, NY/New York Mills) took home the top prize with a time of 1:42.14, followed by
Shiann Williams (Bronx, NY/Hydel) who took second with a time of 1:42.45.
Lacey Simmons (Vernon Center, NY/Vernon-Verona-Sherrill) rounded out the Pioneers with a fifth place finish with a time of 1:46.97.
In the 3000m,
Marlo Townsend (Rome, NY/Rome Free Academy) managed a second place finish with a time of 10:48.50.
In the 4x200m relay, the team of
Angelina Osilovskiy (Marcy, NY/Whitesboro),
Kathryn Williams (New York Mills, NY/New York Mills),
Genna McCallum (Mora, MN/Indian River), and
Lacey Simmons (Vernon Center, NY/Vernon-Verona-Sherrill) took fourth place with a time of 1:56.55.
In the weight throw, the Pioneers had a trio of top-ten finishers.
Allie Cary (Liverpool, NY/Liverpool) led the way with a second place throw of 14.66m, followed by
Riley King (Oswego, NY/Oswego) who took sixth with a 14.24m throw, and
Hailey Hrouda (Wappingers Falls, NY/Roy C. Ketcham) took seventh with a 13.88m throw.
In the shot put,
Allie Cary (Liverpool, NY/Liverpool) continued her dominance with a first place finish after a 13.55m heave.
In the long jump,
Jade Bailey (Dolgeville, NY/Dolgeville) was the top Pioneer, taking home seventh place with a 5.25m jump.
In the pole vault,
Genna McCallum (Mora, MN/Indian River) took home first place after clearing 3.12m.
In the high jump, three Pioneers finished in the top ten in
Hannah Allison (Herkimer, NY/Herkimer) who took home first place after clearing 1.58m,
Jade Bailey (Dolgeville, NY/Dolgeville) who took second with a 1.53m jump, and
Genna McCallum (Mora, MN/Indian River) who took fourth place with a 1.48m jump.
Utica returns to action following the winter break, hosting the Utica Winter Opener on January 16. Start time is set for 4pm from the Todd and Jenn Hutton Sports and Recreation Center.
