Women's Indoor Track and Field Completes Pioneer Fast Trax Invitational

UTICA, NY - The Utica University women's indoor track and field team completed the Pioneer Fast Trax Invitational on Saturday evening. 

In the 60m hurdles, the trio of Olivia Jensen (Red Hook, NY/Red Hook), Amelia Petersen (Fonda, NY/Fonda-Fultonville), and Stefania Grimaldi (Poland, NY/Poland Central) each made it through to the final where the trio took home fifth, sixth, and seventh place, respectively. 

In the 60m, Nyasia Marsh (Westmoreland, NY/Westmoreland) continued her dominance in the event, taking home third place with a time of 8.11. 

In the 800m, the duo of Madalyn Haaf (Pompey, NY/Fabius-Pompey) and Caroline Young each put together top ten performances. Haaf locked in fifth place with a time of 2:33.81, while Young took home ninth with a time of 2:39.46. 

In the 200m, Petersen and Jensen were the top Pioneer finishers, with Petersen clocking a time of 28.46 and Jensen a time of 29.19. 

In the distance medley relay, the team of Marlo Townsend (Rome, NY/Rome Free Academy), Kamryn Williams (New York Mills, NY/New York Mills), Haaf and Catherine Manna (Whitesboro, NY/Whitesboro) clocked in with a time of 13:05.02, a time good enough to qualify the team for the AARTFC meet. 

In the pole vault. Cassondra Wood (Canasota, NY/Canasota) nailed a 3.01m vault to slot her into second place in the event and fifth on the all-time leaderboard. Amber Piersma (Cassville, NY/Mount Markham) followed Wood with a 2.86m vault. 

In the high jump, Hannah Allison (Herkimer, NY/Herkimer) continued her dominance after last week's outing, landing a 1.57m jump to lock in second place. Jada Anthony (West Nyack, NY/Clarkstown South) took home fifth place in the event with a 1.42m jump. 

In the long jump, four Pioneers finished inside the top ten. Nora Devitt (Beverly, MA/Beverly) continued her dominance, taking home second place with a 5.18m leap. Grimaldi took home sixth place with a 4.95m leap. Zeniyah Gholson (Monticello, NY/Monticello) (4.75)  and Sophia Bruce (Apalachin, NY/Vestal) (4.65) finished eighth and ninth in the event, respectively. 

In the triple jump, Devitt took home the top spot in the event with an 11.01m jump. Gholson took home fourth place with a 10.56m jump. Bruce also finished inside the top ten in the event with a 9.91m jump to take home seventh place. 

In the weight throw, Riley King (Oswego, NY/Oswego) continued to dominate the field with a 15.32m toss to take home the top spot in the event. Hailey Hrouda (Wappingers Falls, NY/Roy C. Ketcham) and Ranasia Bailey (Parish, NY/Altmar-Parish-Williamstown) each finished inside the top ten with a 13.28m toss and a 12.47m toss, respectively. 

In the shot put, King was the top Pioneer finisher with a 10.89m toss. 

The Pioneers return to action this weekend as the team is set to host the Empire 8 Indoor Track and Field Championships on Friday, February 28 and Saturday, March 1. Start time inside the Todd and Jenn Hutton Sports and Recreation Center on Friday is set for 3pm and start time on Saturday is set for 10am.
