UTICA, NY - The Utica University women's track and field team completed the final day of the Empire 8 Indoor Track and Field Championships on Saturday evening. The Pioneers finished in fifth place with 38 points.
In the 60m hurdles,
Amelia Petersen (Fonda, NY/Fonda-Fultonville) and
Olivia Jensen (Red Hook, NY/Red Hook) took home podium finishes taking fifth and sixth place with times of 9.75 and 9.80 respectively.
In the 60m, Nyaisa Marsh continued her dominance taking a seventh place finish with a time of 8.06.
In the 3000m, the duo of
Marlo Townsend (Rome, NY/Rome Free Academy) and
Catherine Manna (Whitesboro, NY/Whitesboro) continued their dominance in the event placing eighth and ninth respectively. Townsend's time of 10:30.63 was good enough for a new school record in the event, while Manna's time of 10:32.67 places her second all time.
In the 4x400m, the team of
Olivia Jensen (Red Hook, NY/Red Hook),
Isabella Frick (Longmeadow, MA/Longmeadow),
Madalyn Haaf (Pompey, NY/Fabius-Pompey), and
Lilly Messler (Washingtonville, NY/Washingtonville) took seventh place with a time of 4:33.15.
In the high jump,
Hannah Allison (Herkimer, NY/Herkimer) took home third place after clearing 1.58m.
In the weight throw,
Riley King (Oswego, NY/Oswego) took home a fourth place finish after a 15.60m toss.
In the triple jump,
Nora Devitt (Beverly, MA/Beverly) took home another podium finish after a 10.97m leap to take home fifth place.
The Pioneers will now ready for the AARTFC Regional Meet on March 7 and 8, hosted by Ithaca College. Start time for day one is set for 10am.
