Pair of Records Fall as Women's Outdoor Track and Field Completes Final Home Meet of the Season

UTICA, NY - The Utica University women's outdoor track and field team completed its final home meet of the season on Sunday evening. 

In the 1500m, the trio of Catherine Manna (Whitesboro, NY/Whitesboro), Jade Dening (Remsen, NY/Remsen), and Marlo Townsend (Rome, NY/Rome Free Academy) finished second, third, and fourth in the event, respectively. Manna clocked in at just under five minutes with a time of 4:59.62. Three seconds separated Dening and Townsend, each finishing just after the five minute mark. 

In the 100m hurdles, Stefania Grimaldi (Poland, NY/Poland Central) took home second place with a time of 16.74 seconds. 

In the 100m, the duo of Elizabeth Glomski (Thiells, NY/North Rockland) and Amelia Petersen (Fonda, NY/Fonda-Fultonville) each took home top-ten finishes, with Glomski finishing with a time of 13.37 and Petersen with a time of 13.51. 

In the 800m, Dening and Manna placed sixth and seventh in the event, respectively. Dening crossed the finish with a time of 2:29.36, while Manna came across four tenths of a second later, at 2:26.77. 

In the 400m hurdles, the duo of Lilly Messler (Washingtonville, NY/Washingtonville) and Mackenzie Mix (Camden, NY/Camden) finished fifth and sixth respectively, with Messler clocking in at 1:10.70 and Mix clocking in at 1:11.97. 

In the 200m, Glomski was the top Pioneer finisher, clocking in just outside the top-ten with a time of 28.20. 

In the 4x400m relay, the team of Hannah Allison (Herkimer, NY/Herkimer), Dening, Manna, and Caroline Young crossed the finish with a time of 4:35.18. 

In the javelin throw, Grimaldi was the top Pioneer with a 31.72m toss that was good enough to take home second place, and move into fifth place on the all-time leaderboard in the event. Sophia Capone (Cumberland, RI/Portsmouth Abbey School), Jada Anthony (West Nyack, NY/Clarkstown South), and Amanda Hausle (Smithtown, NY/Smithtown West) finished fourth, fifth, and sixth in the event, respectively. 

In the shot put, Riley King (Oswego, NY/Oswego) and Ranasia Bailey (Parish, NY/Altmar-Parish-Williamstown) each put together top-ten finishes. King took home seventh place with a 10.63m toss, and Bailey finished in ninth place with a 9.91m throw. 

In the hammer throw, King took home second place with a 44.88m throw. Hailey Hrouda (Wappingers Falls, NY/Roy C. Ketcham) and Bailey rounded out the top ten for the Pioneers, finishing fifth and sixth respectively. Hrouda managed a 43.73m throw, while Bailey tossed 39.39m. 

In the discus, Hrouda was the top Pioneer finisher with a 30.67m throw to take home seventh place. 

In the long jump, the trio of Nyasia Marsh (Westmoreland, NY/Westmoreland), Nora Devitt (Beverly, MA/Beverly), and Grimaldi finished second, third, and fourth in the event. Marsh notched a 5.19m leap, while Devitt leaped 5.18m, and Grimaldi rounded out the Pioneers with a 5.16m leap. 

In the triple jump, Devitt was the top Pioneer finisher, taking home second place with a 10.65m leap. 

In the high jump, Hannah Allison (Herkimer, NY/Herkimer) broke her school record in the event for the third consecutive week this season, clearing 1.63m en route to her win. Anthony finished in fourth place after clearing 1.48m and moving into ninth on the all-time leaderboard. 

In the pole vault, Cassondra Wood (Canasota, NY/Canasota) tied the school record in the event after clearing 3.20m and taking home fourth place in the event. 

Utica returns to action next weekend as the team travels to Cortland, NY to take on the Cortland Classic on Friday, April 18 and Saturday, April 19. Start time on Friday for javelin will begin at 2pm, while all other events will take place on Saturday beginning at 9am.
