WILLIAMSTOWN, MA - The Utica University Women's Track & Field team headed to Massachusetts this weekend to compete in the Farley Inter Regional hosted by Williams College. Fresh off some all-star appearances at the Empire 8 Championships, the team saw many great outings once again right before next week's AARTFC meet.

Two Pioneers who kept up their fantastic form were
Marlo Townsend (Rome, NY/Rome Free Academy) and
Catherine Manna (Whitesboro, NY/Whitesboro) who both had a great race during the 1500m on Saturday. Townsend achieved a 4:58.58 finish, good for fifth in outdoor program history. Manna also showed out, recording a time of 5:00.44.

Empire 8 Heptathlon Champion
Stefania Grimaldi (Poland, NY/Poland Central) also picked right up from where she left off. The Poland Central product participated in a pair of events during the weekend, entering into the javelin and the 100m hurdles. In the field event, Grimaldi notched eighth place, finishing with a long toss of 31.81m. In the track event, Grimaldi showcased her versatility, grabbing an 11th place finish with a time of 15.98.

Grimaldi's fellow sophomore
Amelia Petersen (Fonda, NY/Fonda-Fultonville) joined her in the 100m, with the Fonda native achieving a 17.18, good for 18th place.

Jade Dening (Remsen, NY/Remsen) also took to the track, with the Pioneer great looking for some great races at the tail end of her senior season. Dening entered into the 800m in Massachusetts, achieving a time of 2:21.30.

Rounding out the track participants for the Pioneers was
Lilly Messler (Washingtonville, NY/Washingtonville), with the rookie racing in the 400m hurdles. Messler managed to finish with a 1:11.99.

A trio of Pioneer athletes joined in on three different jumping events during the meet.
Hannah Allison (Herkimer, NY/Herkimer) continued to triumph in the high jump, getting a seventh-place nod with a jump of 1.53m.
Cassondra Wood (Canasota, NY/Canasota) competed in the pole vault, finishing with a 3.12m vault.
Nora Devitt (Beverly, MA/Beverly) also participated in the Triple Jump to round out the jumpers for Utica.

There were also many spectacular showings from the Pioneer throwers at the Farley Inter Regional this weekend.

Riley King (Oswego, NY/Oswego) and
Ranasia Bailey (Parish, NY/Altmar-Parish-Williamstown) each participated in the shot put on Saturday. King achieved an 11th-place finish, notching a long throw of 11.25m. Bailey had a great outing as well, finishing in 24th with a 9.90m toss.

In the discus,
Hailey Hrouda (Wappingers Falls, NY/Roy C. Ketcham) cemented a 14th place finish with a 34.70m throw.

All three women competed in the hammer throw over the weekend. The sophomores, King and Hrouda, notched finishes of 11th and 16th respectively, using throws of 45.37m and 42.52m to achieve those marks. The junior Bailey was also very competitive in the event, recording a 17th place finish with a toss of 42.33m.

The Pioneers who qualified for this year's AARTFC meet will compete during next week's championships. That meet will take place back at Williams College, getting underway on Wednesday, May 14th and Thursday, May 15th.
