UTICA, NY - The Utica University women's outdoor track and field team is set for its final tune up before the Regional Championships, the Farley Inter Regional, hosted by Williams College on Friday, May 9, and Saturday, May 10 in Williamstown, MA.

Meet Schedule: Friday's events will begin with the women's heptathlon 100m hurdles, high jump, shot put, and 200m, followed by the javelin throw and pole vault. Saturday's events will begin with the hammer throw in the morning, with track events beginning with the 100m hurdles qualifying are slated to start at noon.
Last Week's Recap: The Pioneers brought home some hardware at last week's Empire 8 Outdoor Track and Field Championships as
Stefania Grimaldi (Poland, NY/Poland Central) took home her first conference title in the heptathlon.Grimaldi took home the title after collecting 3868 total points. The versatile star took first in the heptathlon long jump with a 5.25m leap, and first in the heptathlon javelin throw with a 32.79m toss. Grimaldi also took second in the 800m with a time of 2:44.62. Her great placement in multiple phases of the event allowed her to capture her first Empire 8 Title, an excellent achievement for the Poland, New York native in just her second year.
Record Breaker: Catherine Manna (Whitesboro, NY/Whitesboro) put together another standout performance in the 5000m last weekend, as the freshman broke the school record in the event with a time of 17:59.71.
Podium Makers: Several Pioneers found themselves on the podium at last weekend's championship.
Riley King (Oswego, NY/Oswego) finished in sixth place in the hammer throw with a 46.98m toss and seventh in the shot put with an 11.37m toss.
Marlo Townsend (Rome, NY/Rome Free Academy) finished the 10,000m run in third place with a time of 39:31.75.
Nora Devitt (Beverly, MA/Beverly) took second place in the triple jump with a 11.02m leap.
Regional Breakdown: With the regional championships slated for next weekend, there have been several Pioneers that have found themselves qualified to compete.
Marlo Townsend (Rome, NY/Rome Free Academy) highlights the Pioneers' regional squad after qualifying in two events, the 5000m and 10,000m. Manna and
Mackenzie Mix (Camden, NY/Camden) highlight the remainder of the qualified Pioneers on the track, with Manna slated to compete in the 5000m, and Mix set to compete for the title of fastest woman in the 100m. Three Pioneers have qualified in field events in
Hannah Allison (Herkimer, NY/Herkimer),
Nora Devitt (Beverly, MA/Beverly), and
Riley King (Oswego, NY/Oswego). Allison is set to compete in the high jump, Devitt is slated for the triple jump, and King is set to compete in the hammer throw. After her championship performance last weekend,
Stefania Grimaldi (Poland, NY/Poland Central) is set to compete in the heptathlon.
Up Next: The Pioneers will return to Williamstown, MA for the AARTFC Regional Championship next week on May 14th and 15th.
