UTICA, NY - Utica University's women's wrestling team is set to compete in its first event of the new year, the Alfred State Pioneer Invite. The event also marks the last tournament event scheduled for the team in the regular season, as each of their next four events is a tri- or quad meet. Action is set to begin at 9:00 am on Sunday, January 11th in Alfred State's Orvis Gym.

Before the Break: Utica closed out the fall semester at Hiram College's Terrier Round Robin, competing across seven weight classes.
Jackie Mace (Montour Falls, NY/Odessa-Montour) was the sole multi-win Pioneer of the day, delivering a strong showing at 138 pounds, earning a 10-8 decision against Alfred State's Brooke Walsh before closing her slate with a win by fall over Basil Kiracofe of Carthage in 5:11. Further strong Utica performances came in the upper weights, led by
Evelyn Enriquez (Mastic Beach, NY/Miller Place), who recorded a first period fall in an all-Utica matchup at 180 pounds, pinning
Paityn Billard (New Hartford, NY/New Hartford) in 0:25. At 207,
Natalie Enriquez (Mastic Beach, NY/William Floyd) added another quick finish with a 0:30 fall over Carthage's Sara Willis.
Where The Stats Stand: Through the opening portion of the 2025-26 season, Utica has totaled 24 wins, with the majority of scoring coming via falls. The Pioneers have recorded 14 pins, accounting for over half of the team's total victories and underscoring an aggressive, finish-focused approach across the lineup.
Hannah Kusmierczak (Rome, NY/Holland Patent) leads the team in total wins with seven, while also contributing a mix of bonus-point results, including the team's only technical fall and two pins.
Jackie Mace (Montour Falls, NY/Odessa-Montour) has emerged as Utica's top finisher, producing four falls among her six victories, while
Dakoda House (Oneonta, NY/Cherry Valley Springfield) has added three pins across multiple weight classes. In the upper weights,
Evelyn Enriquez (Mastic Beach, NY/Miller Place) and
Natalie Enriquez (Mastic Beach, NY/William Floyd) have each recorded two falls, contributing to Utica's pin-heavy scoring profile.
Up Next: Utica returns to action next Sunday when the team starts a string of meets. On the 18th, the Pioneers will travel to Ithaca College's Ben Light Gymnasium to match up with the hosts and two other programs. Action is set to begin at 12:00 pm.
