ROCHESTER, NY - The Empire 8 Conference has announced its players of the week, for the week of September 14, with a pair of Pioneers earning conference recognition for their performances.

Killian Bauer (Verona, NY/Vernon-Verona-Sherill) - Runner of the Week (Men's Cross Country)

Bauer and the Pioneers competed in Hamilton College's Short Course Invitational, running a 5km course. The sophomore finished second in the field of 141, joining a group of just four runners to finish sub-16:00. Bauer's 15:54.8 finish time showed an improvement of almost 40 seconds from his two races of the same distance as a freshman.

Bauer and the rest of the men's cross country squad are back in action on Saturday, September 26 as the team travels to Greenwich, NY for the RPI Fairgrounds Showdown. Start time for the men is set for 11am. 

Tyshawn Taylor (Syracuse, NY/Syracuse Institute of Technology) - Offensive Player of the Week (Football)

Pioneer wideout Tyshawn Taylor (Syracuse, NY/Syracuse Institute of Technology) put together one of the greatest receiving performances in program history during the team's 38-14 victory over RPI. The Syracuse, New York native hauled in just eight receptions, but managed to rack up a career-high 244 yards, totaling the second-most single-game receiving yards in program history. Taylor capped off his stellar showing with a 69-yard touchdown, powering the Pioneer offense throughout the afternoon. He had catches of 69, 51, 38, and 31 in the win, with each of his eight receptions going for over 10 yards as he produced 30.5 yards per reception. 

Taylor and the Pioneers are back in action this week as the team hosts Hobart College in the team's annual Mohawk Valley Challengers Day, sponsored by Human Technologies. Kickoff from ABM Field at Gaetano Stadium on Saturday, September 19 is set for 1pm.
