Utica University Athletics

UTICA, NY (3/5/2012) - Sophomore Katie Day (Whitesboro, N.Y.) of the Utica College women’s indoor track & field team was named the College’s Female Athlete of the Week for her performance at the ECAC Indoor Championships this past weekend. 

Day shaved an incredible seven seconds off her qualifying time when she posted a second place finish in the women's 1000 meter run.  Day earned eight team points for Utica after finishing with a career-best time of 2:59.68.  Her final time was just 0.50 short of the winning time posted by Amherst College junior Lauren Almeida. 

Day and the Pioneers totaled 22 points as a team and took home a program-best 12th place finish. 

The outdoor track & field season begins on March 24th when the Pioneers travel to RPI in Troy, N.Y.
