Utica, NY (4-9-12) – Sophomore midfielder Joe Schoen, of the Utica College men’s lacrosse team, was named the College’s Male Athlete of the Week Monday.

The Whitesboro, NY native tallied ten points (five goals, five assists) as he aided the Pioneers to two big conference wins this past week in Empire 8 action.  He netted three goals and two assists in a 15-6 win over Hartwick on Wednesday and followed up with two goals and three assists on Saturday in a 14-9 victory to top Ithaca.

Schoen is now third in scoring for the Pioneers with 27 points on 11 goals and a second-best 16 assists.  He leads the squad with a .458 shot percentage (15 shot min) while playing in 9-of-11 games for UC.

The Pioneers are currently 7-4 overall including a 2-1 mark in the E8.  UC returns to its home turf Saturday as it welcomes Stevens to Gaetano Stadium for 2 p.m. scheduled face-off.
