Utica, NY (9/3/12)- Senior Andrew Benkwitt of the Utica College football team was named the College’s Male Athlete of the Week on Monday.
Benkwitt, a native of Mamaroneck, NY, threw for 355 yards and three touchdowns in Utica’s 40-7 season-opening victory over St. Lawrence on Saturday. Benkwitt was 20-for-36 on the day. He also rushed for 34 yards and one TD.
In his career, Benkwitt has thrown 667 completions for 7,802 yards and 60 touchdowns. He holds every major passing record in UC history.
The Pioneers (1-0) return to action Saturday as they travel to Schenectady, NY to take on Union College (0-1). Game time is scheduled for 7 p.m.
