Local native senior Scott Wanner, of the Utica College men’s swim team, was named the College’s Male Athlete of the Week Monday for his performance in the pool this weekend.

Wanner won two events Saturday to lead the squad to a convincing 146-104 victory over Cazenovia College. He registered 21 team points as he swept the 200 yard breaststroke (2:36.20) and the 200 yard butterfly (2:17.87) as well as finishing third in the 100 yard butterfly (58.67).

The Pioneers are now 3-2 overall and have won three of their last four matches.  UC returns to action Saturday as it heads to Rochester, NY for a match with the Tigers of RIT.  The competition is set for 1 p.m.
