Senior Steve Zappia of the Utica College men’s ice hockey team was named the College’s Male Athlete of the Week on Monday.

The senior defenseman from Buffalo scored two insurance goals to help lift UC to the 5-1 win over Connecticut College on Saturday. The goals were Zappia’s first and second of the season. He now has eight for his 79 game collegiate career.

With the win, Utica remains undefeated on the road at 5-0-1. Both of the team’s losses this season have come at home. On Saturday, the Pioneers will look to improve on their home record while giving back to their community in the annual New York Sash Teddy Bear Toss against Salve Regina at 7pm.
