Utica University Athletics

Utica, NY (May 5, 2014) – Freshman Rayshawn Scott, of the Utica College men's track and field team was named Empire 8 Conference Field Athlete of the Week and the College's Male Athlete of the Week on Monday for his impressive performance Saturday at the 2014 New York State Track Conference Championships. Scott led UC to a program-best fifth place finish as the team recorded 63.5 points.

Scott continued his impressive first-year campaign as he was named the Rookie of the Meet after he totaled 18 points for Utica in his two respective events. He leaped to a first place finish in the high jump, good for ten points, posting a new school-record of 2.03, which is tied for 22nd nationally. He also placed second in the triple jump with a mark of 14.18. 

The Pioneers return to action Saturday at the University of Albany for the UAlbany Purple & Gold Last Chance Meet.  The events are set to kick off at 2 p.m.
