Utica, N.Y. – Junior captain Tim Coffman of the Utica College men’s hockey team was named the College’s Male Athlete of the Week for the week ending Jan. 30. Coffman totaled five points as the Pioneers swept nationally-ranked No. 13 Hobart Friday and Saturday night.

After totaling four points (one goal, three assists) on Saturday night he became the second player in the program’s ten year history to score over 100 points in a career. Coffman assisted sophomore Evan Chlanda on all three of his goals Saturday night as Chlanda netted his first collegiate hat trick in the Pioneers’ 5-0 win. Coffman also added one goal in 4-2 win over the Statesmen on Friday night.

In 70 career games Coffman now has 103 career points. He needs 27 points to break the College’s all-time scoring record set by former All-American Jimmy Sokol back in 2005.

Coffman leads the team with 31 points this season on ten goals and 21 assists. He is currently tied for eighth in the nation with an average of 1.62 points per contest. He also ranks sixth in the country with an average of 1.11 assists per game. He has scored at least one point in seven of his last eight games (four multi-point games).

The Pioneers (15-5, 4-3 ECAC West) return to the ice next Friday when they travel to Rye, N.Y. to take on conference rival Manhattanville at the Playland Ice Casino. The contest is the first of a home and home weekend series and it will begin at 7 p.m. The following night Utica returns to the friendly confines of “The Aud” to take on the Valiants at 7 p.m. In their first meeting of the season the Pioneers came out on top by the score of 5-3 on Dec. 3.
