UTICA, NY- Junior Shawn Marchant of the Utica College football team was named the College’s Male Athlete of the Week Monday for his performance over the weekend.
 
Marchant totaled five catches for 84 yards and two touchdowns.  Marchant was instrumental in the Pioneers’ 34-30 comeback win over No. 18 Ohio Northern on Saturday.  He caught a 25-yard touchdown pass with just 1:43 remaining in regulation to bring the Pioneers within three.  Then, after a three-and-out by Ohio Northern, Marchant made a clutch 29-yard grab on third and 10 to continue the Utica drive to the ONU 20 yard line.  He drew a defensive pass interference call in the end zone before hauling in a six yard TD completion with just 15 seconds remaining to give Utica the lead.
 
Marchant has nine catches for 145 yards and three TDs so far this season.  The Pioneers, who are currently receiving votes in the latest d3football.com national poll, will look to improve to 3-0 for the second time in three years on Saturday when they travel to Morrisville State to take on the Mustangs at 7 p.m
