Utica, NY – Senior goalie Allison Wagner of the Utica College women’s soccer team has been named the UC Female Athlete of the Week for her performances throughout the team’s road to an Empire 8 championship.

The Pioneers started postseason play on Wednesday night against the top-seeded St. John Fisher, and Wagner posted her eighth shutout of the season in an eight-save performance en route to a big 1-0 victory over the Cardinals.

Wagner then had a tall task ahead of her yet again on Saturday in the Empire 8 championship against No. 2 Hartwick. She rose to the occasion once again, posting seven saves and another shutout to secure the first Empire 8 championship in program history for Utica.

The women's soccer team will make its first appearance in the NCAA Division III tournament this upcoming weekend. The matchup details will be revealed at 1 p.m. Monday afternoon.
