Utica University Athletics

Junior Samantha Spohler of the women’s soccer team has been named Utica College’s Female Athlete of the Week.   The transfer from MVCC scored two goals and one assist in UC’s 6-1 defeat over SUNYIT on Thursday night and followed that with the lone goal in a 2-1 loss at Oswego on Saturday. 

For her performance, Spohler was also named Empire 8 Conference Player of the Week.  She currently leads the entire league with nine points and 15 shots on goal in just three games this season. 

The Pioneers (1-2) return to the field Wednesday when they travel to D'Youville College. The contest is scheduled to begin at 7:30 p.m.
